What happens when you get #Nissan involved with Reach for a Dream? You make some kids very happy! The Reach For A Dream Foundation teamed up with Nissan to give 50 dreamers the chance of a lifetime!
Reach For A Dream fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness by a medical practitioner. They do not discriminate based on race, culture, financial status or any other factor. Each child living with a life-threatening illness is given a chance to dream. Reach For A Dream believes that no child should live without hope. Childhood can be the most magical phase of the human existence, filled with dreams, aspirations and most of all… fun! For children who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness, the magic of childhood may be lost in the emotional, physical and financial strain of dealing with their illness. Reach For A Dream tries to alleviate some of this strain (which often affects the whole family), by creating a different environment for the child – one that is not focused on her/ his illness. They would like their children to find their laughter again and therein find the strength to live beyond their illnesses.VIEW SLIDESHOW HERE (68 Images)
The Heroes’ Acre is a section of Church Street Cemetery in Pretoria, South Africa. It was established in 1867, and contains the graves of renowned citizens and public figures. It is the burial place of a number of historical figures including Andries Pretorius, Paul Kruger and Hendrik Verwoerd. Australian Boer War anti-hero Breaker Morant (executed by the British for war crimes during the Second Anglo-Boer War) is also buried here.
The Church Street Cemetery is located on the corner of Church Street and DF Malan Drive in Pretoria. The central part of this historic cemetery is known as The Heroes Acre. The cemetery is a vast green field filled with tombstones of diverse shapes and styles which are organized in rows. As this is a Christian cemetery, the graves are oriented facing east. Trees and shrubbery give the cemetery a calm feel. The silver crosses in The Heroes’ Acre are significant and distinctive of the cemetery. The Heroes’ Acre is listed as a heritage siteVIEW SLIDESHOW HERE (40 Images)
